Lands of Jail Power Guide: Build Real Strength, Not Just a Bigger Number

Learn how to transform troops, research, heroes, equipment, buildings, and resources into efficient Power that improves your real performance in Lands of Jail.

⚡ Complete Power and Account Strength Guide

Power is one of the most visible numbers in Lands of Jail. It allows you to track account growth, compare players, and immediately notice the impact of a major upgrade.

However, there is an important difference between simply increasing your Power and actually making your account stronger.

Training thousands of troops can produce a significant increase in Power. Research, heroes, buildings, equipment, and advanced progression systems also contribute to your total.

Even so, two players with exactly the same Power can achieve completely different results in battle.

This guide explains how to increase Power efficiently, which systems create meaningful account strength, and why chasing the number alone can slow down your long-term progression.

📊 What Power represents

Power is a numerical representation of your account's overall development.

As you improve different systems, your Power increases.

:::cards

:::item 🏗️ Buildings

Buildings increase Power while unlocking new levels, capacity, research, troop tiers, and advanced systems.

:::

:::item 🔬 Research

Research provides permanent improvements that can strengthen troops, combat performance, development, and other parts of the account.

:::

:::item 🪖 Troops

The number and tier of your troops can make a major contribution to your total Power.

:::

:::item 🦸 Heroes

Hero levels, ranks, skills, and other upgrades contribute to both Power and formation performance.

:::

:::item 🛡️ Equipment

Hero equipment and other gear systems improve important attributes while increasing account Power.

:::

:::item 🧬 Advanced progression

Forticlad, exclusive equipment, satellites, prisoner armor, and similar systems add new layers of progression.

:::

:::

Power is useful for tracking growth. The problem begins when it is treated as a perfect measurement of combat strength.

It is not.

⚖️ Total Power and efficient Power

Imagine two players.

The first player has an enormous number of troops but also has:

  • Average military research
  • Outdated equipment
  • Poorly optimized heroes
  • An ineffective formation

The second player has fewer troops but has:

  • Strong military research
  • Good equipment
  • Well-developed heroes
  • An optimized formation

The first player may have more total Power, but that does not automatically mean that this player will defeat the second one.

This is the difference between total Power and efficient Power.

Total Power shows the combined numerical value of your account. Efficient Power represents the portion of that development that meaningfully supports your formations, objectives, and role.

🎯 Let Power become the result

Reaching milestones such as 100M, 200M, 500M, or 1B Power can be extremely satisfying.

These numbers can represent important stages in your progression, but they should not become your only objective.

Before completing an upgrade simply because it provides a large amount of Power, ask:

If the answer is yes, the investment probably supports your account.

If the answer is no, there may be a better place to use those resources.

:::note warning

Do not build your account exclusively around reaching round Power milestones. A larger number does not always produce better formations, stronger battle results, or greater usefulness to your alliance.

:::

🪖 Troop Power has a cost

Training troops is one of the most noticeable ways to increase Power.

The more units you have, and the higher their tier, the greater their usual contribution to your total Power. This creates a strong temptation to train as many troops as possible simply to make the number grow.

However, troops are not just Power. They also represent:

  • Resources invested
  • Training time
  • Speedups
  • Hospital capacity
  • Healing costs
  • Recovery time
  • Risk during PvP activities

Troops should therefore be created with a purpose.

Ask yourself whether you need them for rallies, defense, alliance events, gathering, PvE activities, future wars, or another defined objective.

Training a massive army without the research, heroes, equipment, resources, and recovery capacity to support it can create an impressive account profile but an inefficient combat account.

🧱 Permanent development strengthens every troop

There is an important difference between troops and permanent upgrades.

Completed research remains active on your account. A completed building also remains available and can unlock additional systems.

Troops, depending on the activity and its rules, can be wounded or permanently lost.

An account that receives an extremely large portion of its Power from troops may display an impressive number without possessing the same amount of permanent development as another account.

Compare two players:

  • One uses most available resources to continuously produce more troops.
  • The other also trains troops but consistently invests in research, heroes, equipment, buildings, and permanent progression systems.

Over time, the second player creates a stronger foundation that improves the performance of every troop already owned.

Do not think only about how many troops you have. Think about how strong those troops become when they enter battle.

For example, two players may send 100,000 Shooters of the same tier and still produce different results.

One of them may have:

  • Higher ATK
  • More HP
  • Better DEF
  • Greater Lethality
  • Stronger bonuses
  • Better heroes
  • Better equipment
  • A more effective formation

Quantity is only one part of the equation.

🦸 Concentrate hero investment

Heroes should not be developed only because every upgrade adds to your total Power.

Your most valuable investments should usually be concentrated on the characters you actually use.

An account with twenty average heroes may perform worse in its most important battle than an account that concentrated its resources on three heroes with strong development and synergy.

This does not mean that secondary heroes should never be improved. They may be useful in additional marches, specific events, specialized activities, or future formations.

The important point is to avoid spreading limited resources so widely that none of your main heroes become truly effective.

:::note tip

Concentrated investment can be more valuable than evenly distributed investment, especially while resources are limited.

:::

Before upgrading a hero, ask:

  • Is this hero part of my main formation?
  • Does the hero support my preferred troop type?
  • Will the upgrade improve an activity I regularly play?
  • Am I building a coherent team or only collecting Power?

🛡️ Equipment should support the formation

The same principle applies to equipment.

Improving any piece may produce progress, but the important questions remain:

  • Does this equipment belong to an important hero?
  • Does it improve my main formation?
  • Does it strengthen the attributes my strategy needs?
  • Am I developing a priority or merely increasing Power?

A powerful item on a hero you rarely use may have less immediate value than a carefully selected upgrade for your main attacker, defender, or rally formation.

Your Power should be the consequence of good decisions, not the reason behind every decision.

🏗️ Buildings should unlock progress

Buildings are especially important because they frequently do more than increase Power.

A building upgrade may provide access to:

  • New levels
  • Greater capacity
  • Additional research
  • Higher troop tiers
  • New systems
  • Advanced progression requirements

Buildings connected to your next major unlock usually have more strategic value than random upgrades selected only for their Power.

When resources are limited, upgrading the wrong building can delay the objective that truly matters.

Ask:

  • What is my next important unlock?
  • What are its prerequisites?
  • Which building is currently blocking my progression?
  • Will this upgrade open another useful system?

Your priority should begin with these answers.

🧭 Build for your actual role

Not every strong account needs to be built in the same way.

:::cards

:::item ⚔️ Rally leader

Usually requires strong heroes, equipment, research, formations, and offensive bonuses capable of supporting the entire rally.

:::

:::item 🛡️ Defender

May prioritize survivability, defensive bonuses, troop durability, recovery, and formations designed to absorb attacks.

:::

:::item 🤝 Rally participant

Needs reliable troops, useful supporting heroes, appropriate formations, and the ability to consistently join alliance attacks.

:::

:::item 🏆 Alliance contributor

May focus on participation, availability, event performance, reinforcement, gathering, and other collective objectives.

:::

:::item 🎯 PvE specialist

Can concentrate on damage against specific targets, formation optimization, event performance, and repeatable scoring.

:::

:::

The same amount of Power can be distributed in completely different ways.

Before copying the strongest player in your alliance, understand that player's role.

The player may be a rally leader while you normally join rallies. The player may be the main defender while you specialize in damage events.

Your priorities will not necessarily be the same.

Copying an account without copying its context rarely works.

🔎 Never judge an opponent by Power alone

When analyzing another player, Power is only the first piece of information.

Also consider:

  • Heroes
  • Equipment
  • Troop composition
  • Troop tiers
  • Research
  • Formation
  • Active bonuses
  • Season progression
  • Account specialization
  • The player's role

Two identical Power values do not represent two identical accounts.

Imagine one player with 600M Power and another with 500M Power. It may be tempting to immediately conclude that the first player is stronger.

However, a large portion of the first player's Power could come from an enormous number of troops, while the second player may have superior military research, equipment, heroes, and formation quality.

The result cannot be determined from total Power alone.

After a battle, analyze the report. Do not look only at victory or defeat.

Try to understand:

  • How much damage you caused
  • How much damage you received
  • Which troop types performed best
  • How well your formation worked
  • Where your greatest weakness appeared
  • Whether the opponent had stronger bonuses
  • Whether your troop distribution was appropriate

This information will improve your account far more effectively than blindly adding another 10 million Power.

📈 Define useful Power

Efficient or useful Power is the development that contributes directly to what your account needs to accomplish.

For example, if you constantly use Shooters, improving important Shooter attributes increases your Power while also strengthening your main formation.

That is a coherent investment.

If you spend all your resources on a system you almost never use only because it provides a large amount of Power, the number increases while your main formation barely changes.

This does not mean that other sources of Power are useless. A complete account still needs troops, buildings, research, heroes, equipment, and advanced systems.

The problem is not variety. The problem is disproportion.

🧩 Keep the account coherent

A strong account develops across multiple connected layers.

You can specialize, but try to avoid combinations such as:

  • An enormous army with weak research
  • Powerful heroes with neglected equipment
  • Advanced buildings with severely outdated troops
  • Good equipment with poorly selected formations
  • High Power with insufficient resources for recovery

Each layer amplifies the others.

Research makes troops stronger. Heroes and equipment improve formations. Buildings unlock research and new troop tiers. Resources and hospital capacity allow the account to recover and continue fighting.

An efficient account is not one where everything is identical. It is one where the different systems support the same objective.

🎁 Align progression with events

There are moments when increasing Power quickly provides additional value.

Some events reward actions related to:

  • Construction
  • Research
  • Troop training
  • Hero development
  • Equipment improvement
  • Other progression systems

Ace Warden, for example, may include phases that reward different development actions. The available phases and scoring rules may change, so always check the current event information before spending resources.

When the timing is correct, a planned upgrade can provide:

  • More Power
  • Permanent progression
  • Event points
  • Additional rewards

This is considerably more efficient than completing the same upgrade at a random moment without receiving any additional benefit.

If you are about to finish a large research project, train many troops, improve several pieces of equipment, or use a large number of hero fragments, check whether an upcoming activity will reward those actions.

However, do not freeze your account indefinitely.

Planning means choosing useful moments. It does not mean never spending anything.

⏳ Speedups are stored progress

Accumulated speedups represent progress that can be activated when you need it.

A large reserve of construction, research, or training speedups can produce a major increase in Power within a short period.

Using them without a clear objective reduces your ability to complete important upgrades or take advantage of future events.

Before using a large amount of speedups, verify:

  • What will be completed?
  • Does it support your current goal?
  • Can you finish the entire upgrade?
  • Will you receive event rewards?
  • How many speedups will remain afterward?
  • Is another important unlock approaching?

A speedup has value not only because of the time it removes, but also because of the opportunity it allows you to capture.

💎 Diamonds preserve flexibility

Diamonds can accelerate or unlock many parts of progression.

That flexibility is what makes them valuable.

Do not convert a flexible currency into a small amount of Power only because you want to reach a round milestone.

If you are at 499M Power, you do not need to spend important resources merely to see 500M on your profile.

The milestone will still be available later.

Reaching 500M without diamonds, speedups, and resources may be worse than temporarily remaining at 480M with an account prepared for the next valuable opportunity.

🌱 F2P should compete through efficiency

Free-to-play players have a natural limitation: important resources are harder to replace.

This makes every decision more significant.

An F2P player who distributes resources randomly can gain Power while taking much longer to develop a competitive main formation.

Another player who concentrates resources on clear priorities may have less total Power but achieve excellent performance for the account's current stage.

Trying to match the raw growth of someone who purchases large amounts of resources is usually an inefficient competition.

You do not need to win that race.

Focus on:

  • Efficiency
  • Event rewards
  • Formation quality
  • Clear priorities
  • Resource planning
  • Consistent participation
  • Intelligent timing

Compare your account with your own previous performance, not only with another player's total Power.

🏥 Build an account that can recover

Before creating a gigantic number of troops, consider the consequences.

Ask:

  • Can my hospital support this army?
  • Do I have enough resources to heal?
  • Can I recover after a war?
  • Am I training troops I will actually use?
  • Can my alliance support the activities I am preparing for?
  • Will I still have resources for research and other priorities?

An account prepared to fight must also be prepared to recover.

Having more troops can be useful, but an army that cannot be healed or replaced may become a long-term burden after a difficult conflict.

🔧 Find the real bottleneck

After losing a battle, the automatic reaction is often:

That may be correct, but it may also be completely unrelated to the real problem.

The weakness could be:

  • Formation
  • Heroes
  • Research
  • Equipment
  • Troop proportion
  • Active bonuses
  • An opponent far above your current level

Training another 500,000 units without correcting the true weakness may only increase your Power.

Instead, ask:

If the bottleneck is research, invest in research.

If it is your heroes, concentrate resources on them.

If it is equipment, improve the pieces that support your formation.

If it is troop quantity or tier, train or promote troops.

If it is buildings, complete the prerequisites that block your next progression stage.

This approach provides a much more reliable way to decide where your next Power should come from.

🧠 Separate the types of Power

It can be useful to mentally divide your account into different categories.

Permanent progression

  • Buildings
  • Research
  • Permanent systems
  • Major unlocks

Combat-quality progression

  • Heroes
  • Equipment
  • Formations
  • Attributes
  • Relevant bonuses

Troop Power

  • Available units
  • Troop tiers
  • Troop composition
  • Reinforcement capacity

All of these categories are important, but they behave differently.

This separation helps explain why two accounts with the same total Power can have completely different structures and combat results.

🧮 Plan advanced systems

As your account progresses, systems such as Forticlad require increasingly careful planning.

Guide LOJ provides calculators for Forticlad Prison and Forticlad Lab, allowing you to estimate the materials required before beginning these upgrades.

This is especially helpful because advanced progression can require a significant amount of resources and specialized materials.

[Button: Forticlad Calculator]

[Button: Forticlad Lab Calculator]

Plan the complete upgrade before confirming the first step.

Your account is not made only of troops and research. Guide LOJ also provides planning tools for systems such as:

  • Tome
  • Exclusive Equipment
  • Hero Equipment
  • Prisoner Armor
  • Heroes
  • Satellite
  • Other advanced progression systems

This demonstrates how late-game development becomes distributed across several connected layers.

Do not allow one essential system to fall extremely far behind the others.

🎯 Replace random upgrades with goals

Instead of spending every resource immediately after receiving it, create clear development goals.

Examples include:

  • Completing a specific research project
  • Promoting an important troop group
  • Improving three priority equipment pieces
  • Advancing Forticlad
  • Developing the main hero
  • Unlocking a new troop tier
  • Preparing a formation for a specific event
  • Increasing recovery capacity before a war

When you use this approach, every increase in Power represents a completed part of your plan.

Your objective becomes more meaningful than simply making the number larger.

🔍 Audit the account regularly

From time to time, stop upgrading and examine your account.

Ask:

  • Which system is furthest behind?
  • Where am I spending most of my resources?
  • Is my main formation keeping pace with my Power?
  • Do I have many troops but weak bonuses?
  • Are my heroes strong while my research remains behind?
  • Is my equipment distributed across too many characters?
  • Can I recover after participating in major combat?
  • Does my current development support my alliance role?

These questions can reveal weaknesses hidden by the total Power number.

An account audit does not need to be complicated. Its purpose is to ensure that your resources continue moving toward the same strategy.

🧪 Measure performance, not only Power

Imagine that you had 400M Power last month and now have 500M.

That is significant growth, but it should lead to additional questions:

  • Did my damage in Trial Cage increase?
  • Can I defend more effectively?
  • Is my main march stronger?
  • Can I challenge stronger opponents?
  • Has my contribution to alliance events improved?
  • Did my survivability increase?
  • Can I complete objectives more reliably?

If you gained 100M Power but noticed almost no improvement in actual performance, investigate where that Power came from.

Repeated events can work as useful tests.

When conditions are reasonably similar between two editions of an event, compare:

  • Score
  • Damage
  • Survival
  • Formation performance
  • Resources consumed
  • Recovery required

This comparison is much more informative than looking only at Power before and after the event.

🧬 Specialize intentionally

Balance does not mean developing every system equally.

Your account can have a clear identity.

Possible specializations include:

  • Offensive formations
  • Defensive survival
  • Heavy investment in the main formation
  • PvE damage optimization
  • Rally leadership
  • Reliable rally participation
  • Alliance support

The important point is that the specialization should be intentional.

If you are an attacker, your investments should support attacking.

If you are a defender, your progression should improve survival and defensive performance.

If you are preparing to unlock a higher troop tier, your buildings and research should move toward that objective.

An efficient account is not a random collection of upgrades.

It is a project.

🚀 Know when a major jump is worth it

A large Power increase can make sense when it supports:

  • An event that rewards progression
  • An important unlock
  • Preparation for war
  • An alliance requirement
  • A new troop tier
  • A major formation change
  • The completion of a long-term objective

In these situations, using accumulated resources can generate excellent value.

Consider waiting when:

  • There is no urgency
  • You cannot complete the objective
  • You have not decided your priority
  • A more important investment is approaching
  • You only want to increase the displayed number

Sometimes the best upgrade today is to spend nothing.

📦 Reserves are strategic flexibility

Some players believe that every unused resource is a wasted resource.

That is not necessarily true.

A reserve gives you the flexibility to react to:

  • Events
  • New heroes
  • New seasons
  • Wars
  • Important unlocks
  • Unexpected alliance needs
  • Changes to your formation

An account without reserves must face every new situation using only what is currently available.

The opposite extreme is also inefficient. Millions of resources that are never used do not strengthen your account.

The correct question is not:

The better question is:

That change in mentality is fundamental.

🏁 Use Power milestones wisely

Power can still be used as motivation.

For example:

Add a strategic condition:

Now you have both a visual milestone and a performance objective.

Avoid consuming all your diamonds, speedups, and resources simply because you are close to a specific number.

The game continues after the milestone.

:::note warning

Do not sacrifice the account's future flexibility just to complete a Power milestone today. The same milestone can be reached later through upgrades that provide greater strategic value.

:::

🤝 Strategy and teamwork multiply strength

In activities such as Crystal Clash and Sandsea Conquest, individual Power can help, but organization remains fundamental.

Objectives, routes, roles, timing, and coordination can be as important as raw strength.

An extremely powerful player who is out of position may contribute less than a smaller player who performs the correct role at the correct moment.

A strong account used poorly loses efficiency. A well-planned account can extract much more value from everything it owns.

Effective performance combines:

  • Power
  • Formation
  • Strategy
  • Timing
  • Teamwork

It is the combination of these elements that produces results.

In some competitive activities, rapid account growth may also affect the environment or opponents you encounter. Because rules and matchmaking systems can change, always check the current event rules before making major investments based on matchmaking assumptions.

⚔️ Two accounts with the same Power

Imagine two players who both have 500M Power.

The first account has:

  • A large portion of Power concentrated in troops
  • Average military research
  • Average equipment
  • Resources distributed across many heroes
  • No clear specialization

The second account has:

  • Fewer troops
  • Superior military research
  • A highly developed main formation
  • Concentrated equipment
  • Heroes with strong synergy
  • A defined strategic role

Which account is stronger?

It is impossible to answer by looking only at 500M Power.

You need to understand the composition of each account, the activity being played, and how effectively each player uses available resources.

That is the central lesson of this guide.

🗺️ A better progression sequence

Use this progression logic:

Choose an objective

Decide whether you want to improve attack, defense, rally performance, PvE damage, troop progression, or another specific area.

Identify the bottleneck

Determine whether troops, research, heroes, equipment, buildings, or another system is limiting your performance.

Calculate the complete cost

Check the materials, resources, speedups, fragments, and prerequisites required to finish the objective.

Choose the best moment

If possible, align the investment with an event that provides additional rewards.

Execute the plan

Complete the intended progression without redirecting resources toward random upgrades.

Measure the result

Compare damage, survival, event score, formation quality, or another relevant performance indicator.

Select the next bottleneck

Use the result to decide what your account needs next.

This creates the correct sequence:

Objective → Planning → Investment → Performance → Power

Avoid the opposite pattern:

Power → Random upgrade → Random spending

✅ Efficient Power checklist

:::checklist

  • Do I know which system will provide this Power?
  • Will this upgrade improve my main formation?
  • Do I have enough resources to complete the objective?
  • Do I have enough speedups?
  • Is there an event that rewards this progression?
  • Am I leaving another important system too far behind?
  • Will I still have useful reserves afterward?
  • Does this investment support my role?
  • Am I doing this for performance or only for the number?

:::

If your only answer is:

It may be worth reconsidering the investment.

❓ Frequently asked questions

:::faq

:::item What increases Power quickly?

Troop training, construction, research, heroes, equipment, and advanced systems can all increase Power. The best option depends on your available resources, account stage, and current objective.

:::

:::item Does having more troops always mean being stronger?

No. Troops are important, but research, heroes, equipment, troop tiers, bonuses, formation quality, and battle context also influence performance.

:::

:::item Should I prioritize troops or research?

There is no universal answer. Troops provide the army you need to participate, while research can permanently improve how that army performs. An efficient account needs both in proportions appropriate to its role.

:::

:::item Should I wait for events before upgrading?

When progression can safely wait, aligning upgrades with an event may increase the return from your resources and speedups. Do not delay an important unlock indefinitely if waiting harms your account.

:::

:::item Can a lower-Power player defeat a higher-Power player?

Depending on the Power difference and the activity, an efficient account may perform better than its displayed Power suggests. Formation, research, equipment, heroes, bonuses, troop composition, and player decisions can all affect the result. Very large investment differences remain important.

:::

:::item What is the ideal amount of Power?

There is no universal number. Server age, season, progression stage, spending level, alliance expectations, and player role completely change the reference.

:::

:::item Is Power still useful?

Yes. Power is useful as a general reference and a way to track account growth. It should not be used as a complete evaluation of combat strength.

:::

:::item Is every permanent upgrade better than training troops?

Not automatically. Troops are necessary for combat and participation. The goal is to avoid creating an army that your permanent development cannot properly support.

:::

:::item How do I know whether my Power is efficient?

Compare account growth with actual performance. If your formations, damage, survival, event contribution, and ability to recover are improving alongside Power, your progression is probably becoming more efficient.

:::

:::

🏆 Final lesson

If you remember only one idea from this guide, remember this:

A strong account is not necessarily the account with the largest number.

It is the account that transforms resources, time, heroes, troops, equipment, research, and planning into the greatest possible performance.
