Trial Cage Intermediate Guide: Strategies and Tips — Lands of Jail

Improve your Trial Cage setup with a broader roster: compare offensive skills, fill missing rally roles, and use battle reports to refine your choices.

Already using wheel heroes and a broader selection of SSR heroes? The intermediate approach to Trial Cage is to build several useful marches and fill missing offensive roles instead of choosing heroes at random.

This intermediate guide is intended for accounts that already understand the basics and have a broader roster; it does not depend on a specific season or FC level. It includes the shared mechanics, complete troop setup, hero priorities, situational alternatives, and exclusions.

🔥 The foundation: troops deal damage, heroes support the rally

A useful rule for this strategy is: your troops provide your damage; your hero helps strengthen the rally you join. Troop Forticlad level is the main driver of the individual contribution described in the comparison below.

The progression shown is:

FC1 → FC2 → FC3 → FC4 → FC5 → FC6 → FC7 → FC8 → FC9 → FC10.

In this approach, a higher troop FC level means greater damage potential for your march. Your joining hero contributes an offensive buff to the rally opened by your teammate. A stronger rally can improve the overall result in which you participate.

🧪 Compare a march with and without a hero

March A: with a hero

Use the same troop type, troop level, and troop count, with a hero assigned.

March B: without a hero

Use the same troop type, troop level, and troop count, without a hero.

The expected individual damage is approximately the same, while the joining hero provides a rally buff. To verify the result on your account, compare reports under otherwise comparable conditions. Do not generalize this behavior to every combat mode.

Your troops → Your damage potential. Your hero → A useful rally buff. Both → A stronger combined rally.

🚩 Troop setup: opening a rally versus joining other rallies

The opening and joining configurations are intentionally different. Do not treat the joining example as another way of writing the opening ratio.

SituationShieldbearersBombersShootersHow to configure it
Opening your own rally0%30%70%Use percentage allocation across the available march capacity.
Each of the other six marches: 75,000-troop example015,00060,000Enter the troop numbers manually.

Opening: 30/70. Other marches: the 75,000-troop example is 15,000/60,000, or 20/80.

This configuration includes an opening march plus six other marches. Use the marches actually available to your account; the numbers above are an example, since not every account has identical capacity.

🦸 Select the offensive effect, not just the hero's rarity

Use the following priority order:

  1. Damage effects: increased damage dealt or increased damage taken by the enemy.
  1. Attack (ATK).
  1. Lethality.
  1. Other useful offensive effects, including troop-specific or conditional skills.

The shorthand is Damage > ATK > Lethality, while Damage and ATK form the first group of recommended offensive choices. DEF, HP, and damage mitigation are last-resort options for this damage-focused setup.

Four useful offensive examples

HeroListed effectPriority
PhoenixAllied damage +25%High priority
LunarlAllied damage +25%High priority
LofiliAllied ATK +25%High priority
SamirATK +14% and Lethality +12%Very good

🧩 Build a useful mix

Compare Phoenix + Phoenix + Phoenix + Phoenix with Lunarl + Lofili + Samir + Phoenix.

The aim is to combine useful offensive contributions rather than select four identical heroes automatically. The second example includes damage, ATK, and Lethality effects; it is an example of selection logic, not proof of a universal rule about which duplicate effects can or cannot stack.

👑 What the rally leader should check

  • The player's troop FC level: higher-level troops support the individual damage contribution described above.
  • The joining hero: choose an offensive effect that fits the rally.

A high-FC participant with a defensive hero still brings strong troops. The drawback is the opportunity cost of a buff slot that could have supplied a more useful offensive effect.

Prioritize high FC together with a suitable offensive hero—not FC alone.

🔥 Intermediate hero priorities

HeroListed effectPriority
KoschevoiKoschevoiTroop Damage +25%.High priority.
VivianVivianAllied ATK +25%.High priority.
KateKateAllied ATK +25%.High priority.
WorrellWorrellBasic Attack Damage +25%.High priority.
DevilianDevilianLethality +25%.Strong offensive option.
XuanmingXuanmingLethality +25%.Strong offensive option.
RinRinShooter Damage +25%.Troop-specific offensive option.

Keep the effect categories separate: enemy takes more damage, allied damage, ATK, Basic Attack Damage, and Lethality are not interchangeable descriptions.

🧩 A four-buff model for a mixed roster

1. Phoenix: Damage

Listed effect: Damage +25%.

2. Vivian or Kate: ATK

Listed effect: ATK +25%.

3. Xuanming or Devilian: Lethality

Listed effect: Lethality +25%.

4. Worrell or Boogie: Basic Attack Damage

Listed effect: Basic Attack Damage +25%.

This is an example of a useful mix, not a mandatory quartet or a universal optimum. The goal is to combine suitable offensive contributions rather than repeat four identical choices automatically.

The alternative names are options for a role. They do not mean you should insert both heroes into the same slot or buy every hero in the list.

🟡 Useful but situational alternatives

HeroListed effectWhat to check
veronicaVeronica50% chance to make the enemy take +50% Damage.Activation chance; do not read this as a permanent +50% bonus.
leeLeeUp to +50% Tactical Damage taken after a Bomber attack. The attack trigger and the stated upper limit.
ryuichiRyuichi25% chance of a critical hit on a basic attack.Critical-hit chance, not guaranteed extra damage on every attack.
adaADAEnemy DEF -10% and HP -15%.A secondary debuff option, not the first priority.

🛠️ Plan your next investment around the missing role

  1. Review the heroes you already use

Record which useful Damage, ATK, Lethality, and Basic Attack Damage effects are already available across your marches.

  2. Identify a real gap

Look for the offensive role your rally setups lack. Do not mistake another copy of a similar role for an automatic upgrade.

  3. Compare the skill and its conditions

Read the relevant skill at the level you can actually reach, including troop restrictions and activation chances.

  4. Test the combination

Coordinate with the rally leader and compare reports. The useful addition is the one that improves the setup you actually run.

The intermediate takeaway: build coverage across useful offensive roles. A broader roster is not automatically a better-organized rally.

🚫 Heroes and effects to avoid prioritizing

Keep Mia out of this Trial Cage lineup because she is better suited to Monster/Arena activities. Also exclude blue R heroes, which are associated with gathering.

For the remaining categories below, the recommendation is to avoid using a defensive or utility effect in place of an available offensive buff.

CategoryHeroesReason or limitation
DEF / HPTormund, Inata, Gerd, Gimes, Iwado, Fran & LúcioDefensive effects rather than the offensive buffs prioritized here.
Damage mitigationOtto, Zoltan, Marcus, Edwin, Platos, VesaryonReduce incoming damage.
Defensive debuffsMireya, AlphReduce enemy ATK or Lethality.
UtilityMia, Flora, Durga, Harton, Pasino, AiksenMonster-related or production utility rather than the preferred rally offense.
Secondary debuffsADA, Sussurro, SawyerReduce enemy DEF/HP; use only if a better offensive option is unavailable.

Defensive effects are a last resort, not the first choice. Hero names may differ depending on the language selected in your game client.

⚡ The alliance's 20-second checklist

  • Check your troop FC level and use the strongest suitable troops available.
  • Remember that your joining hero is selected for the rally buff described in this guide.
  • Prioritize Damage and ATK, then Lethality and useful offensive alternatives.
  • Opening march: 0% Shieldbearers, 30% Bombers, 70% Shooters.
  • Other marches: configure manually; the 75,000-troop example uses 15,000 Bombers and 60,000 Shooters.
  • Do not fill four buff slots with identical heroes without checking the rally's needs.
  • Keep Mia and blue R gathering heroes out of this setup; leave DEF, HP, and mitigation as last resorts.
  • Check actual skills, active buffs, and battle reports before treating a suggested composition as your best option.

❓ Intermediate questions

Do I need every hero in the recommended model?

No. The model demonstrates offensive roles, and several slots list alternatives. Start with your existing roster and identify a useful gap rather than treating the table as a shopping list.

Is Veronica's +50% damage-taken effect always active?

No. The skill has a 50% activation chance. Preserve that condition when comparing it with other effects.

Should I replace a useful offensive SR just because I unlocked an SSR?

Not automatically. Compare the actual skills and the role each hero fills in the rally. Rarity alone is not the criterion used in this guide.
